Teams

The Pastor Parish Relations Committee is the personnel committee of the church. It supervises, evaluates and works with the pastoral staff and evaluates and works with the non-clergy staff of the church. It makes salary recommendations to the Charge Conference for the clergy and to the Church Council for the remaining staff. It functions as an advisory group for the pastor, keeping strict confidentiality. It oversees the care and provision of a parsonage for the pastoral family. It annually evaluates the work and ministry of the church, reporting to both the Church Council and the District Superintendent. During transitions in pastoral leadership, the PPRC is the link between the church and the District Superintendent and Bishop in the consultative process of our denomination. The team meets between 8-10 times a year. Persons are elected to this team at the church’s annual charge conference and serve three year terms.

The Trustees at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church oversees the upkeep, care, maintenance and use of the church’s properties. They are the church’s legal agents and have a liaison on the Finance Team. The Trustees report directly to the church’s chief administrative body, The Church Council. They are elected yearly at the church’s annual charge conference.

The Finance Team develops the church’s budget and works directly with the treasurer and financial secretary of the church in monitoring the financial state of the church.

The Mission Team is the team that heads up and organizes the many missions that we are involved. These include Common Grounds, Neighborhood Mission Project, Union Mission, Community Development Outreach Ministries (CDOM), Heart and Hand, Angel Tree Project, Adopt-A-Family, “Undie Sunday”, Habitat for Humanity, and Covenant House.

The Christian Education Team organizes and presents Sunday School classes, other alternative learning opportunities (i.e. short-term classes and directed studies), Vacation Bible School, and special seasonal studies. This team works with all aspects of the process of educating persons of every age in the Christian faith. This Christian Education team impacts all of our lives and the new persons who will be joining the Morris Family. They are elected yearly at the church's annual charge conference.

The Worship and Nurture Team organizes our Sunday services and any special services throughout the year. The team coordinates Communion Sundays and prepares the Sanctuary for each service. This team also organizes our Fellowship time each Sunday between our worship services.

The Nominating Team, along with the Senior Pastor, handles all nominations for teams and team leadership. Once the team has selected members or leadership for a team, their recommendations are sent to the Church Council for final approval. The team members are elected yearly at the church's annual charge conference.

The Nurture-N-Action meets weekly and is responsible for setting up visits for shut-ins and/or hospital visits. The team is broken down into two-person groups and each group is assigned certain persons to visit each week. Team members bring weekly bulletins, newsletters and other publications to their visits. Requests for visitations are on-going and can be sent to the church office. Individuals may join the Visitation Team at any time.

The Good News Team is a committee that organizes our amazing church dinners, as well as bereavement dinners for grieving families. They also have provided food during power outages from recent storms in our area. This team keeps us well fed!
